As the basis of any x86-based embedded system, Award offers the EliteBIOS. This modular, flexible system BIOS supports the latest Intel PCIset chipsets, plus Intel486™ microprocessor and Pentium® microprocessor families.
Working with each customer to design individualized solutions for their specific operation, Award Software can adapt its EliteBIOS to support a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications, from uninterruptible process monitoring to consumer products. Award Software can provide new software or customize existing offerings for seamlessly integrated system management.
Examples of BIOS customization for embedded system applications may include design of a BIOS for a continuously running process-monitoring system without user-input devices. For maintenance checks the BIOS could permit hot-plugging of a PS/2 mouse into a dedicated port. Other examples of customized firmware include integration of boot software in the BIOS ROM, including CardWare PC Card socket and card services in the firmware to permit booting from a PC Card, and of MPCAccess* remote, preboot system administration software for x86-based Managed PCs and embedded systems.
Award Software consistently works with industry leaders and standards associations to ensure support for the latest operating systems and technology standards. While staying abreast of the latest technology, Award Software continues full support of Legacy PC AT interrupt service routines and compatibility with device service routines for a clear interface with existing software. Supported standards include ACPI/APM, SMBIOS (DMI), and USB.
